Arming Yourself with your Stimulus Check (Repost 12/20)

Note: We published this back in December, 2020 as a response to the first Covid-19 stimulus. It’s a little dated but the info is still good. We’re working on an updated buying guide.

Let’s be honest–

$600.00 doesn’t go very far these days. Is it possible to obtain a firearms license, purchase a firearm, and create a welcoming and safe facility with knowledgeable instructors ready to help you become proficient and confident with your new purchase? The Southern New England Socialist Rifle Association is here to help you do exactly that.

Step 1: Getting Licensed

If you’re an adult living in NH, VT, or already have an FID/LTC in RI, MA or CT, congrats- you can skip this step! For everyone else, you’re going to need to start here, and fortunately you have options! Reach out to info@comradecenter.org to find patient, sympathetic, and qualified instructors near you!

Step 2: Selecting Your Firearm

Depending on where you want to keep your firearm and what you want to expect from it, consider one of three options from this non-exhaustive list:

Ruger 10/22

Frequently underestimated for its small caliber and plain looks, this little rifle is a phenomenal training tool and capable pest-control device with a wide selection of aftermarket parts available. The affordability of .22 Long Rifle ammunition is another significant benefit.

Stevens 320 Security

This recommendation is for a shotgun to be kept in the home to protect the home. 12 Gauge is a flexible platform for many uses and some offerings of this firearm offer a replacement barrel for hunting/recreational purposes as well, for a little extra money.

Taurus G3c

Handguns are more difficult to master than long guns, but many find benefit in a firearm you can take with you. This subcompact pistol is an alternative to the Glock 43 with a manual safety and more universal accessory rail. It’s affordable and legal in places the Glock is hard to source, and usually half the price.

Step 3: Investing In Yourself

Once you have your firearm and proper safety equipment, you’ll need a place to practice. Why not help us make one?
